Amy: Amazing Hand Paintings and the Environment (2010)

June 24, 2010 in Core Projects, Visual Arts

Amy’s interest in the arts and teaching young children led her to develop a lesson for primary children. As a child Amy was called Picasso and after seeing her work with children I can see why that name suits her perfectly. Working with local elementary schools, Amy visited grades 3 and 4 classrooms. Her three step plan had students first sketching out their hand painting using pencil crayons and paper. Next students created an environment for their animal out of construction paper. Finally students painted their hands and photographed their animals against their backdrop. Teachers were very pleased with the results and young children became very excited about their Habitat Unit that year.
